Do You Believe in Santa Claus Too ?

It’s been awhile since many of us believed that everything on the internet is true.

So it’s disconcerting when you realize you’ve been in the dark on something that you shouldn’t have been so naive about. A travesty that is happening in your very own industry.

I’ve seen some IT articles lately that at first blush appear to be real analyses of technology, almost mini white papers if you will. They appear to be independent sources of information written by researchers. They appear to be “earned media” from independent journalists.

But in reality, under the covers, they are sponsored by vendors. Commercials.

So the next time that you’re reading that article on the latest new system, processor, or IT concept, take it with a grain of salt until you know exactly who wrote it, who they work for, and what their job is.

Play the sleuth.

It’s OK to believe in Santa, but don’t be taken in by this one.
